Sample Third Person Post of the Character:
Gemini took a deep breath, tightened the straps of her beaten leather pack, and wished she could go another week without having to trade for supplies. But her food had run out two days ago and she had no idea when she would next encounter a tribe. She had taken to wandering aimlessly over the past few weeks and had long since left the northwest corner of Nebraska. She didn't know what she was going to do here in Wyoming but her last clue to the location of her half-sisters had come to a dead end in Wichita. Sighing, Gemini looked down at the rough encampment that had formed at the bottom of the mountain. Her stomach growled and she took a step forward, towards the simple but delicious smells coming from the tribe's cooking fires. Callum nudged her hand with his coarse, comforting muzzle.
"I know you're hungry, Callum. Just let me get my bearings." A quiet puff of air escaped his lips and he pushed at the back of her knees as she observed the tribe from behind the trees. "Ok! I get it. They seem safe enough to YOU." Hitching her pack into a more secure position on her back, Gemini slowly but surely made her way down into the clearing. As she came closer to the swirling smoke of the fires, she was able to discern the different voices of the people in the group. One rather gruff man was speaking of some place called Sundance and the number of tribes that had settled there. Others were intently listening and still more were arguing about what was true and what wasn't. The group became suddenly quiet as she stepped out of the trees and into their camp. The gruff man, by far the eldest, although probably only twenty-five, stood as Gemini drew closer and walked to meet her halfway. Callum, ever courageous, stood between her body and the man's, shielding her in case the giant decided that she was a threat to his tribe. The man, however, only stood a few feet away and took in the sight of Gemini's worn jeans, leather boots, and faded, dark green sweater... and of the pistol strapped to her thigh and the pack on her back.
"You're a wanderer then?" Gemini nodded. "I expect you need to trade or else you wouldn't have come out of the woods." Again, Gemini nodded and slowly set her pack down on the ground. From it, she pulled three pairs of warm suede moccasins and a sturdy leather knapsack with three separate compartments. As she stood with her work in her hands, she heard the gasps of the tribe members. Leather was a rare treasure to small tribes like this. Clearing her throat, she waited for Callum to heed the signal and stand down, and then walked forward to place her wares on a log beside the largest fire.
"This is what I have to trade. All I ask of your supplies is food, clean water, some information, and, if possible, a small bottle of shampoo." As she spoke, Gemini looked directly into the gruff man's eyes, ignoring the curious looks that were being shot at her. She hoped she wouldn't have to wait long. The gazes reminded her of the stare she had so often received on the streets of Kerrville and were making her slightly uncomfortable.
"The food, water, and shampoo will be easy. What kind of information do you need?" Gemini sighed and thought to herself, 'thank goodness this will be a non-confrontational exchange.' Aloud she said, "I'm looking for two women. Tabitha and Libby Spencer. Any information on where they could be would be extremely helpful." The man's eyes widened at the sound of the names. He sat down and motioned for Gemini to do the same as a tribe woman brought forward her requested supplies. "I'm not sure about the Tabitha... but I do know of a Libby. She's a librarian in the city of Sundance a day or so north of here. But I'm warning you. There are hungry tribes in that area, people who would eat a wanderer like you for lunch. If you're heading that way, be sure to keep that gun and that animal of yours very close at hand."
'At last,' Gemini thought, 'I've found her.'
